Our Mission

Envirolaunch is a resource made just for budding youth environmentalists who want to join the MA climate movement, but don’t know how to start. There are over a hundred environmental organizations in Massachusetts alone – how does one navigate so many choices? Which organizations are made up of youth? How does someone new to the environmental movement know how they want to contribute?

Through hours of research and communications with MA organizations, we have compiled as many active, youth-friendly, environmental organizations in MA as we can*. Of course, there are a lot more organizations that we are missing, but we are continually adding more organizations as we discover them. Feel free to submit your organization here if it’s not already added!

Using our database and resources, you can find the organization that aligns with how YOU want to contribute to the climate movement.

Ultimately, we hope to:

  1. Make environmental advocacy accessible for all youth, regardless of experience.
  2. Aid youth in becoming life-long advocates for the environment and their futures.
  3. Expand and deepen the environmental movement in MA and beyond.

*We have chosen to omit school-based environmental organizations, since those organizations are only for students attending that institution.

Why Create Envirolaunch?

Not too long ago, I was trying to seek out environmental work as a complete newbie. I searched up “environmental organizations in MA,” which yielded me a few random websites that listed a few MA organizations for me to join. I wasn’t able to gain an understanding of what those organizations really did, how open they were to youth volunteers, or even if they were an organization that accepted volunteers. And of course, these websites only listed a few large, state-wide organizations. Not a lot of choice there.

I eventually stumbled across Our Climate, a youth-led organization, though I wasn’t completely sure what its focus was upon joining. As I started attending meetings and getting involved in different projects, I was able to expand my knowledge on the environmental movement in MA. I began to see just how complex the movement was, how it was made up of so many individuals, organizations, and coalitions.

There seems to be such a great barrier when it comes to getting involved in any type of organizational work – the options are both endless and unknown. I believe that this barrier prevented me from contributing to environmental work sooner, since I had harbored an interest towards environmental issues since middle school.

I hope that this database can show youth in particular the options they have to create change in this world, and that they are only one website away from doing it.
